August 5, 2026 Meeting Minutes
The regular meeting of the Village of Bishop Hill Board was held at the Municipal Bldg. The meeting was called to order by Village President Mike Funke at 6:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Mike Funke, Patrick Light, Lisa Nordstrom, Ben Strand, Mike Keup, Jim Nolan, Carsen Meyer, Sharon Wexell & Terri Wigant were all present.
MINUTES: Nordstrom motioned to accept the July minutes, seconded by Nolan. Voice vote, motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Strand motioned to accept the Treasurer’s Report, seconded by Nordstrom. Voice vote, motion carried.
PAY BILLS: Light motioned to pay all bills including the 2nd Water Solutions bill for a total of $794.99; add $50 for two JULIE calls to Cameron Meyer’s bill, total $475; and moving Rock River Electric bill for $1,093 to the General Fund. Seconded by Nolan. Voice vote, motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS:
Cameron Meyer said once a piece of equipment is fixed, we can do the water connections on Olson St. around the last week of August or first week of September. Then a couple weeks after the connections we can tear out the old sidewalk along Cemetery St, replace two culverts , grind out two stumps, and lay down rock. Hopefully, next year we can oil and chip Cemetery St. We will also put down rock on the street around the Methodist church.
Wexell said Courtney Stone will be on the Zoning Board. Nolan said we now have Mike Rabas, AJ Chase, Stone, Brenda Dehler as Secretary, Light represents the Village Board and Ryley Lamb represents the State Historic Site. Nolan and the 2 representatives cannot vote. Wigant will get the new members’ phone numbers to Nolan.
Wigant said her husband will pull the Village Board members on his trailer for the Old Settlers parade. Each person can bring a lawn chair and a bag of candy.
Funke said the Township will prime both sides of Bjorklund St, that has to set for a day or a week, depends on the weather, then they will oil and chip it. That should keep the rock from washing away. The street will have to be shut down for maybe 2 weeks. Wigant will let business owners know.
NEW BUSINESS:
Wigant said the Colony Flagpole will be finished and up by the Village’s 180th celebration. She hopes to have a commemoration before the parade starts and raise the flag. Also, Wexell said the Cemetery Relief grant will end August 15th and the monument should be done soon.
There was no further business Light motioned to adjourn, seconded by Strand. Voice vote motion carried.
