Bishop Hill is a village located in Henry County, Illinois, United States, along the South Edwards River. The village has ten part-time employees. Nine of those employees are board members, and one is a certified water operator. The board of trustees convenes on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM at the Bishop Hill pump house, next to the water tower.

The village receives funding from the State of Illinois through taxes on Sales, Motor Fuel, Income, Use, Personal Property Replacement, Cannabis, and Video Gaming totaling $54,400 for Fiscal Year 26 ending April 30, 2026. An additional $8,000 is received annually through tax levy of personal property taxes in Henry County.

Cemetery Monument Dedication September 13, 2026

Please join the Village of Bishop Hill and the Old Settlers Association on Sunday, September 13,2026 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bishop Hill Cemetery for a dedication of a new monument honoring all Swedish settlers lying in unmarked graves. A July 2026 update on conditions at the Bishop Hill Museum

I wanted to address some issues that we have run into at the museum at the Bishop Hill State Historic Site. Late last summer a failure in the HVAC system in the building caused a spike in humidity levels which led to some minor mold growth.
