NEW BUSINESS: Funke went to new business first as Todd DeDecker was present representing the Bishop Hill Heritage Association. The BHHA will be sponsoring a Civil War event May 15 -16th of this year. DeDecker said that he is getting several pounds of gun powder the week before the event and on the15th they will host several schools. A cotillion/ball will be held Saturday evening at the Commons. They will briefly close the road on S. Bishop Hill St. so the regiments can march across to Cooper’s field for the battle. He requested from the board, a resolution stating the BHHA can use black powder at their Civil War Days event. Wexell and Wigant had a resolution ready to vote on. Strand motioned to pass Resolution 2026-01 to allow the BHHA (only) to use black powder at the civil war event, seconded by Nolan. There were 5 ayes and one absent, voice vote motion carried. The Board thanked DeDecker for coming and hosting events. DeDecker left the meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:
Wexell said there was no news on the Blue Stem Grant for the flagpole, although she had contacted them and they are working on it.
Meyer said he dug up the water shut-off on S Park St and W. Knox St., repaired it and shut off the water to the trailer.
Wigant said there had not been any price quotes for the enclosure around Well 2.
NEW BUSINESS (continued):
Wigant and Wexell asked about having a dedication ceremony once the historic flagpole renovation is complete. We have 3 different dates that could be used. Wigant said the flagpole was originally erected June 19, 1889. If the restoration is complete, we could do a dedication that evening on the 136 year anniversary; it is also Midsommar Weekend. Then we have July 4th , which was the original thought because it is the United States 250th anniversary. If it is not done by the previous dates mentioned, we would have a dedication on Old Settlers Day, which is Bishop Hill’s 180th anniversary and parade year.
Wigant said there is a resident that is very late on the water/garbage payments and is due to have their water shut-off. Wigant said we have sent many letters and even made phone calls. Funke said he will talk with the resident.
There was no further business Light motioned to adjourn, seconded by Nordstrom. Voice vote, motion carried.
